Home Made Wedding Cake

What's a wedding ceremony or a wedding reception, without a wedding cake? Cakes come in different shapes, designs and number of tiers. A cake is an important component of any wedding.  It figures first in the list of a wedding planner. The wedding cake is served after the exchange of wedding rings, at the end of a catholic wedding ceremony. The bride slices the cake.

Here's a list of some home made wedding cake recipes:

1. WEDDING CUPCAKES OR CAKE SQUARES
         - A box of white cake mixture
         - A packet of dry Cream Whip
         - Four unbeaten whites of eggs
         - A cup of cold water
         - A tsp of vanilla Essence
         - You may also use yellow or chocolate cake mixture, and whole eggs, if you wish

Mix all the ingredients in a pan. You can use three-layered pans or pans of sheet cake or cup cake variety.  Make sure that before you bake in them, the pans are properly floured and greased. Bake at a constant temperature of 350 degrees. Use white icing or frosting  for Wedding Cakes when the cake has cooled.
The best part about these cakes is that it does not crumble and stay together easily.

2. WEDDING CAKE and Icing
         - 2 1/2 c. sifted cake flour
         - 3 tsp baking powder
         - 5 egg whites, unbeaten
         - 1 tsp. salt
         - 1 3/4 c. sugar
         - 2/3 c. white shortening
         - 3 tsp. dry milk
         - 1/4 tsp. almond flavoring
         - 1 tsp. white vanilla
         - 1 c. water

Mix and beat the flour, baking powder, salt, sugar, and dry milk in a bowl, along with almond and vanilla flavors and water. Then beat the eggs into the bowl. Pour the contents in an oblong pan or in 2 layer pans and bake at 350 degrees. Check if the cake is done by piercing the center of the cake with a fine needle. If the needle comes out clean, the cake is done. After 30 minutes, take the cake out of the oven and let it cool down for the icing.
